Chemistry is one route taken by humans to make sense of our world through the organization of the universal and fundamental ingredients of all matter, the elements. Through science we attempt to impose order and classification, and hence understanding on our world. Historically, however, the elements are far more than just matter and scientific numbers; they have cultural meanings, rituals, values and significance.
This series of prints are my expression of the undefinable, untameable and mysterious depths of matter. Using the chemical processes involved in printmaking in an attempt to express the depth of this emotional response, and to explore the link of my response to the logical expression and historical progression of science. A representation of my thirst for knowledge.
